Richard CanonNews / Wednesday, May 16, 2018 / Categories: Canon Lenses Canon 70-200's scheduled to be announced in June? A new rumor has surfaced that Canon is gearing up to replace both 70-200 IS versions in June. That's right, the 70-200 2.8L IS II and the 70-200 4.0 IS are both going to be replaced. Both are within the age in which replacements could be done as they are 8 years and 15 years respectively and both have seen stiff new competition the last few years. CR states; We can 100% confirm that one of the new lenses will be an EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II. We can also 95% confirm that the second lens will be a EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III. All of the tips we’ve seen point to this lens coming, but we haven’t actually seen the “f/2.8L IS III” in writing. We should start to see major image leaks within the next few weeks if these rumors are true. Some are reporting they must be fake news because we haven't seen substantial leaks yet, however Canon has been working aggressively over the years of plugging up material leaks for most of it's products. It's now not uncommon to see image and full specification leaks a week before the product announcement.
