Canon Announces the Canon RF 20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ

Canon has just announced the Canon RF 20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ.  This is a rather unique lens that no one has really done before.  Canon has previously experimented with short focal multiplier zoom lenses on the RF mount prior, with the Canon RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM.  However, this lens, outside of the focal length, bears hardly any resemblance to this lens.

There was a rumor a while back about a Canon RF 20-70mm F2.8L lens, and I'm sure the Canon Clickbait rumor site that came up with that gem will think this was a win for their guesses because it starts at 20mm.  However, as I mentioned before, it's highly unlikely Canon makes an excellent optical lens with a greater than 3x focal zoom multiplier.  This 20-50mm hits the sweet spot of 2.5x zoom multiplier, so I have high hopes in terms of its optical performance, as I'll get into further when we talk about the lens MTF and design.

Features include lever-operated zoom operations and exposure compensation, making it an ideal accessory for vlogging, livestreaming and solo shooting.
• HG-200TBR Multi-Function Tripod Grip: Features a versatile combination tripod and hand grip that is designed for both horizontal and vertical formats and supports both video and still shooting. A movie record button and zoom and exposure compensation levers provides smooth and intuitive movie shooting. The Canon RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ lens is expected to be available in late June for an estimated retail price of $1,399.003.

The BR-E2 Wireless Remote Control, HG-200TBR Multi-Function Tripod Grip and AD-M1 Macro Lite Adapter Set are expected to be available in late June for an estimated retail price of $69.99, $159.99, $179.99 respectively3.
