Canon Patent Application: Fan cooled EOS-M camera

In this patent application Canon discribes a fan cooled camera that appears to be similar to the M100/M200 camera bodies.   This camera body also is fan cooled and Canon describes a method to air cool and also minimize vibrations that could be picked up by the internal microphone.

Could the Mxxx series get a performance boost? Right now it seems like it's performance is under what the other M's can do, and possibly it needs a little help to get up closer to the M6 Mark II level of performance because of the small body and heat dissipation.

The fan in the 2nd illustration is 607.  Which seems to the display (LCD) unit.  I would have expected some heat conducting material between the display and the main camera, so I'm not sure how this would actually work in practice.

It's certainly a curious patent that could also have implications for an ultra-small RF camera body.

with respect to the conventional technology disclosed in the above-mentioned patent document, if the temperature of the cooling member itself that is thermally coupled to the main body of the imaging device is increased by using the imaging device continuously, the cooling device is replaced. Must be done and take a lot of time. In addition, since the imaging device cannot be used while the cooling member is being replaced, there is a possibility that a photo opportunity is missed. Another problem is that a spare cooling device must be carried around. In addition, when an air cooling fan is arranged in the imaging apparatus main body, when the air cooling fan is driven, a considerable amount of vibration is generated, and the microphone arranged in the imaging apparatus main body may pick up noise due to the vibration.

The present invention has been invented to solve the above problems, it is not necessary to replace the cooling member for cooling when the temperature rise of the imaging apparatus main body, suppresses effectively the temperature rise Provided is an imaging device capable of performing the above. Still another object of the present invention is to provide an image pickup apparatus in which a microphone arranged in the image pickup apparatus main body has a configuration that is hardly affected by noise due to vibration of an air cooling fan.
