Canon Patent Application: Some odd DO telephotos

These have to be some of the strangest lens designs I've seen.  These are obviously experimental in nature.  But they are some very simplistic (and very slow) supertelephoto lenses using DO elements.

They are looking for in this patent application; 

 a good balance between reduction of change of the optical performance caused by an object distance and downsizing and weight reduction of the optical system.
