Canon releases more details about the R5 - Animal AF and 8K30p with DPAF
Canon today released more tidbits about the upcoming R5 RF mount camera.
in summary;
- eye AF will include Animal eye AF as well as Animal face and body recognition for cats, dogs and birds for the first time in a Canon mirrorless camera
- 8K video will be internal recording up to 30p and WILL include DPAF AF.
Big news, and shows that Canon is serious about making this a pretty amazing camera. I guess Matt will have to completely revise his video here. If this is what they are putting on the 5 series body, it makes me wonder what they have in store next year for us with the 1 series camera.

Canon Inc. also confirms the EOS R5 supports advanced animal AF – recognising dogs, cats and birds, relying not only on the eyes of the animal but also the face and body for situations when the eyes are not visible.
