Canon RF 50mm F1.8 and RF 70-200mm F4L MTF's

Now that the Canon RF 50mm F1.8 and the Canon RF 70-200mm F4 are released, it's time to compare the MTF's and see how these lenses stack up to their EF predecessors.

There isn't much difference between these two lenses. Which is to be expected. Neither lens is optically stellar. The optical formulae didn't change that much and Canon prioritized size, weight, and cost over optical quality for this lens.

There doesn't seem to be much practical difference between these two lenses.  The Canon EF version may have better bokeh at 200mm, while the RF version may look better at 70mm.  The lens resolution and contrast appears to be fairly consistent between the two lenses. Given the fact that the new lens is 32% smaller, and 11% lighter, it's a remarkable achievement for Canon to make it as good as it's EF counterparts.  Those that aren't concerned with the weight or using adapters, could certainly save themselves a few dollars and use the stellar EF version of the lens.
