Firmware Updates for EOS R7 and EOS R50 Released
Canon has just released new firmware updates for two of its most popular APS-C mirrorless cameras: the EOS R7 and the EOS R50.
Announced on March 17, 2026, this update includes a series of enhancements, particularly for their unique RF-S7.8mm F4 STM DUAL lens (a dual-lens fisheye/stereoscopic lens), as well as new features and bug fixes.
Canon EOS R7 Firmware Version 1.8.0
The Canon EOS R7 receives a new update to Version 1.7.1, which includes a wide range of enhancements, lens-specific improvements, new features, bug fixes, and other stability enhancements. Now is also a good time to purchase an EOS R7, with current discounts being offered.
The new features of this update are as follows:
1. Improves display settings when using the RF-S7.8mm F4 STM Dual lens and adds [3:2] and [1:1] as new selectable options for [Still img. aspect ratio].
2. Fixes an issue in which Err70 may occur during Bluetooth communication due to interference from other Bluetooth devices.
3. Fixes an issue in which Err70 may occur when repeatedly shooting in the "High-speed continuous shooting +" mode.
4. Improves other system stability.

Canon EOS R50 Firmware Version 1.5.0
Firmware update 1.5.0 is a simple update, with changes similar to the R7 but more relevant for the R50. What's New:
1. Improves display settings when using the RF-S7.8mm F4 STM Dual lens and adds [3:2] and [1:1] as new selectable options for [Still img. aspect ratio].
2. Improves other system stability.

You can find the updates for your camera by visiting your regional Canon website and searching for the support pages for the EOS R7 or the EOS R50. Once you find the updates for your camera, download the firmware files and follow the standard firmware update instructions provided by Canon.
