Richard CanonNews / Sunday, February 17, 2019 / Categories: Rumors, Canon Mirrorless New Rumor: 2 more RF lenses possible this year A new rumor has surfaced that it is possible that Canon will announce two more RF lenses later this year. It could be development announcements similar to that of the 6 lenses we just have had announced in which little in the way of details was made available. A recent patent discovered by us show a Canon RF 100-400L and a consumer 70-300, these would make the basis of a good set of two lenses for the RF series. Possibly of more importance to Canon is coming out with some IS STM lenses to match up well with the EOS RP. While the 24-105 is an excellent lens, its size and weight do not match up as well on the EOS RP, as it does on the EOS R. With Nikon releasing small and compact F4 lenses at the start of the Z mount, we feel that Canon will more sooner than later follow up with similar lenses. I suspect that Canon including the EF 24-105 IS STM into the USA EOS RP kits was a stopgap until they get can lighter and smaller kit lenses for the RP. It's actually the reason why I personally have not got an EOS R, or an EOS RP .. quite yet. I personally value travel compactness and weight over that of absolute quality and need the lenses to match.
