Canon RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 MTF
Canon Japan has released the MTF charts for the Canon RF 24-240mm.
We are curious to see how it fares against the Canon EF-M 18-150mm which is Canon's modern APS-C superzoom.
Here's the Canon EF-M 18-150mm MTF

Against the Canon RF 24-240mm MTF chart;

That doesn't show the best performance against the Canon EF-M 18-150, however, to be fair, the Canon RF lens is a full frame lens, and it's more difficult to make them light, small, inexpensive and good. It also goes to show just how good the 18-150mm (One of my personal favorite lenses for the EOS-M mount).
Canon makes another full frame superzoom, the Canon EF 28-300mm, so how does the new RF fair against it's bigger, heavier, more expensive L cousin?

Pretty good actually, looks like the Canon RF 24-240mm is pretty competitive against it's L cousin. Better in the wide angle and in the telephoto. Also keep in mind that we are comparing a $2450 lens against the Canon RF 24-240mm that is only $900.
Now there is one other manufacturer that currently has a full frame mirrorless super zoom lens, the Sony FE 24-240mm.

It seems that both Canon and Sony have designed pretty similar lenses. In a way, it makes sense, for optical designs, for around the same weight, size, and cost, comparable performance should really be expected.
Of course, with the Canon RF 24-240mm, you do have the advantage of using DLO. DLO usually shows a considerable benefit for the consumer-grade Canon lenses, we will be interested in trying out DLO against the Canon RF 24-240mm.
Update: Thank you to neuroanatomist for pointing out the dissimilar MTF charts. As he explained in an email to me, Canon post-2018 has updated all their MTF charts, especially on the Japan website to be of stricter digital tolerances.
You can preorder either the Canon RF 24-240mm lens individually or with the EOS RP kit.
