Canon stacked sensor patent

This patent clearly identifies that Canon is most certainly working on stacked sensors.

Given the success and the incredible capability of Sony's stacked sensors, this certainly is something that Canon needs to do quickly, and this patent goes through a variety of ways of stacking an processing unit behind an image sensor.

Keep in mind that these are published patent applications.  There is still steps involved before Canon actually receives a patent, and this may take years.  Don't expect this on the next camera that get released ;)
