New Sony Rumor: The Sony 5D Mark II

In what has to be the strangest thing ever, and over the years, we've seen strange things - Sony Center Cypress posted a teaser video that clearly has a 5D Mark II represented in the video.

I'm willing to bet that no one had Sony showing off a Canon EOS 5D mark II in their promotional video on thier 2025 bingo card.

You'd think that Sony would have a Sony Alpha camera lying around and wouldn't have to use a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, right? Why is it a Mark II? there's no m.fn button near the shutter, and it has the distinctive 4 button command layout on the right side at the top.

Is Sony finally admitting that Canon ergonomics are superior and that they need to adopt them? Probably not, no matter how amusing that would be.

Now back that that rumor, they don't necessarily say what the item is. It could be an EF mount lens for all we know, that is a fairly large lens that they are showing on that silhouette.   EF mount cini cameras and the like are still quite popular - but with Sony's mirrorless mount having a focal plane distance of 18mm, it's unlikely that after all these years, they'd do something for the EF's 44mm focal plane distance.

There could also by some symbolism as this is the full frame camera that launched the hybrid camera evolution that is now the standard today.  It could be that Sony thinks they have "the next big thing" coming up.

I guess we'll find out on June 2nd just what exactly Sony has planned.
