Canon Patent Application: More details on a organic sensor Canon continues to research organic photo electric elements, this one goes into a little more details, and discusses an actual sensor more so than prior patent applications. Clearly Canon is progressing along with it's organic sensor research and development, and I'm curious to when Canon will actually do a development announcement of such a sensor. For now, all we have is the general research of such a sensor. Could this be the "next big thing" to hit sensors? It could be. We know that Panasonic and Fuji were working jointly on an organic sensor and released a prototype of the sensor to the general public years ago. it promises gains in dynamic range, efficiency and sensitivity that are nearly impossible with conventional photodiode sensors.
