Canon patents a DPAF sensor with bi-directional pixels

Canon continues to work on refining DPAF (Dual Pixel Auto Focus) sensors.

Canon was granted a US patent Patent No 09794468 for a DPAF (dual pixel auto focus) sensor with pixels in both the horizontal and vertical directions.

This should improve auto focus when shooting in portrait orientation on a mirrorless camera.

Thank you Keith from Northlight for finding this patent.
