While the likes of Sigma and Tamron have been expanding the native AF lens selection for the APS-C RF system, the situation is still mostly limited. In a lot of cases, outside of the major third-party vendors, the only option is manual focus.

So when rumors of a new manufacturer announcing autofocus lenses for the RF mount ...

<dc:identifier>bae2b87f-50b7-4b10-b617-288436724cb1-2833</dc:identifier>

Richard CanonNews

New Rumor: Sigma to start creating RF mount lenses in 2021

According to NikonRumors , they have heard that Sigma is planning on producing RF (and Nikon Z) mount lenses sometime in 2021.

It should be a fairly smooth process for Sigma, even if they simply at this time wish to use the EF protocol instead of RF.

This of course is good news for those that have moved over to the RF system already, as the current Canon lenses for RF mount are a little on the pricey side and it would be good to have alternatives available, such as Sigma's lovely ...

<dc:identifier>bae2b87f-50b7-4b10-b617-288436724cb1-2202</dc:identifier>

Richard CanonNews

Zeiss set to launch 3 Supreme Prime Cinema lenses

Zeiss is set to announce three new Supreme prime lenses.

I would consider these lenses in the realm of, "if you have to ask how much they will cost, you can't afford them".

However they are certainly going to be up to Zeiss'es exacting standards. The three lenses coming out are;

 18mm T1.5
 40mm T1.5
 200mm T2.2

No word on specifications, etc. We expect an announcement soon.

This really doesn't surprise me. The Samyang 14mm F2.8 AF for the RF mount showed that it was possible to quickly release an RF lens, even though, articles such as this seem to indicate it may be years away .

The most intruging may be the W-Dreamer 15mm F4.5 tilt shift lens.

It has quite the bubulous front element to it, which seems to indicate to me that this is a full frame 15mm tilt-shift which would be probably under 9mm for stiching.

Crazy.

Release date is expected on December 6th, just in time for Christmas.

Well, now we know. The first AF lens for the RF mount is coming, and it's from Samyang, creating a 14mm F2.8 AF lens for the RF mount.

It's also including a lens station, I would presume to update the firmware for the lens.

An announcement is expected soon.

A Nikon Rumors reader did some digging and got this response from NSI the company that originally a year ago announced plans for a 75mm F.95 lens;

This image showing the mount of the Komodo named video camera, clearly shows what appears to be a Canon RF mount. Out of the four mirrorless mounts, Canon is the only one with a raised series of 4 pins to the left hand side of the mount.
