Canon EOS R6 still expected next month

Some new information in regards to the Canon EOS R6.  I have also, like CanonRumors, seen people thinking this is a high-end camera because it has the same resolution as the 1DX Mark III.  This is not targetted at the same users as the R5 or the 1DX Mark III.

It certainly seems that Canon is duplicating the 5 and 6 series cameras in the RF mount.  So consider where the 6D sits in the lineup, that's probably where the R6 will sit.  It would be a good idea to temper expectations a bit on this camera.

According to CanonRumors, the announcement for the R6 is still expected in May and the R5 is still expected to be officially announced in May.  It's unknown if these would happen at the same time, but it's certainly a possiblity.

The R6 rumored specifications are;

  • 20mp full-frame CMOS sensor (not the same as the 1DX Mark III)
  • IBIS
  • 12fps mechanical and 20fps electronic.
  • 4K @ 60p
  • FullHD @ 120p
  • Dual card slots
  • No top-down screen
  • Lower resolution EVF than the EOS R5
  • Build quality not as good as the EOS R5
  • New battery (Not sure if it’s the same as the EOS R5)
