Canon Product Advisory: Canon EF 400mm IS III USM and Canon EF 600mm IS III USM Canon has issued out a product advisory for the newly released Canon EF 400mm 2.8L IS III USM and the Canon EF 600mm 2.8L IS III USM. It seems that some exposure flicker may occur with these two lenses with the camera set to either Av mode or M mode during video shooting only. This problem does not occur during regular stills shooting. This is a pretty limited bug but it seems to affect basically any camera with either of these lenses mounted. There are currently workarounds to this problem. For use with either the 2x extender or the lens only mounted to the camera, set the camera to either P or Tv mode and also set the exposure level increment to ½ or 1 stop EV. For use with the 1.4x extender, you merely have to set the camera to P or Tv mode. Canon also suggests that you register the lens so you get an email when the firmware is released to properly fix this problem. The actual product advisory is shown below; Thank you for using Canon products. We take great pride in the quality and performance of our products. We offer our sincerest apologies to any customers who may be inconvenienced. Products EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III USM and EF 600mm f/4L IS III USM running firmware 1.0.7.
