Canon R5 and R6 facing manufacturing delays due to COVID-19 According to Canon Rumors, manufacturing is behind schedule for the R5 and R6. While the cameras are manufactured in Japan, just about every high tech industry including cameras rely on parts supplied by the industrial base of China. With the supply chains out of China disrupted, the ripple effect will be felt through not only the camera industry, but most high tech industries around the world. Canon has two choices that they are apparently contemplating, either release the cameras on schedule and deal with the short supply fallout as it happens, or delay the release until later on in the year. Since the R6 has not been announced yet, I suspect that the first casualty will be the R6 camera body. It could also cause the high-resolution R5 to be delayed into next year as the production schedules shift. I suspect if these cameras are officially announced, if you want a new camera this year, preorder fast.
