Canon to close factories because of supply shortages

Canon has decided to close five plants in Kyushu that produce cameras and related products for approximately two weeks from March 2 to 13 because the supply of parts from China is unstable right now.

Canon hopes that production losses will be made up 2020 after the supply of parts returns to normal.

As of now, no Canon plant employees have bee infected with the COVID-19 virus.

It's unknown at this time which products would be affected by this.  But once the EOS R5 goes on preorder, my advice is that if you want it. Preorder it immediately when it's available, as it may take longer to get the subsequent orders of cameras from Canon this year.

As we ourselves are in Asia right now, we hope that everyone no matter where you are exercises diligence when it comes to keeping yourself safe from COVID-19.
