New Rumor surfaces about a 24-70L 2.8 IS

Our friends at Canon Rumors suggest that there are two versions of this lens in active prototype, designs haven't been finalized as canon continues to work on this lens.

An extremely plausible rumor, as I'm sure the nature of the compromises in either cost, size or weight against quality have Canon considering a couple of approaches.

As with any lens, these take years and years to get through the design, prototype, manufacturing development to end up delivered to our doors, so it's impossible to suggest that it's release any time soon.

Canon Rumors states:

Every other lens manufacturer seems to have an IS version of their 24-70mm f/2.8 version and Canon seems to pride itself on being the market leader in lens technology, so I think it’s only a matter of time until we see an EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS.

We tend to agree.
