BCN Ranking for January 2019: EOS-M50 still going strong in Japan

Some mixed news in Japan for January as BCN released their January report.  Keep in mind that January is not usually a good sales month, so these results may not be indicative over the overall success or not of a camera or cameras.  BCN for those that don't know is a large retail tracking company in Japan that tallies up over half of the sales receipts from Japan retail businesses.

The M50 continues to lead all mirrorless cameras in Japan, selling at position #3.  It's been extremely strong since the middle of last year, and continues to be a big seller for Canon.  Canon overall has 5 out of the top 10 spots, and probably, more importantly, the top 4 out of 5 positions.

The EOS R, when compared against Sony offerings, is not fairing as well, dropping to position 39 this week, with the A7III leading at position 22.

This is to be expected, really, the EOS R is a new system, with a very small ecosystem, and the Sony A7III has a much larger FE mount ecosystem from both Sony, Zeiss and other third-party manufacturers.

Nikon surprisingly fails to show up with any of the Z camera offerings in the top 50 sales, including the pretty excellent Z 6 released in November.  This is what I would consider a large surprise.
