Canon quietly discontinues the Canon EOS-M M5

It seems after the sales of black friday were over, and Canon slashed the price of the Canon EOS-M M5, they have also appeared to quietly discontinue it afterward.

For now, you can still purchase the M5 at significant savings at B&H Photo video.  The best deal would have to be the M5 + 18-150mm. You are basically getting the M5 for free.

Confusion exists though on whether or not the M5 is actually discontinued.  Some vendors have it still for sale while others have it marked discontinued or have simply removed it from their list of products.  Adorama, in the USA, no longer offers the EOS-M M5 for sale, and neither does MAP Camera based out of Japan.  Those are two significant camera retailers.

However, the M5 is still for sale at other major vendors including Amazon, B&H and also in Japan, BICCamera.  My feeling is that it's simply stock that is being cleared out, and as the stock clears out, the camera will be discontinued at the remaining stores.

Is this the end of the line for the EOS M5?  Some sources not including Canon USA have suggested that Canon is not going to replace the EOS M5.

I have long stated that I feel that Canon will still come out with an M5 Mark II, that the M6 Mark II doesn't seem to be a replacement for both, and that Canon isn't sending out that narrative worldwide.  However, discontinuing the M5 without a replacement out would certainly suggest that no M5 Mark II is coming from Canon.
