Richard CanonNews / Sunday, September 8, 2019 / Categories: News, Canon General News Canon moving DPPExpress to subscription DPP stands for Digital Photo Professional and is Canon's own written software to work with Canon RAW files. Canon launched DPP Express in late October 2018 which allows you to use DPP on your Ipad. Before this, Canon only supplied DPP for Windows and Mac desktops. DPP Express allows you to do RAW conversions and edits directly on your iPad tablet. It has a subset of the desktop version's functionality. Looking at Apple's App Store, it seems that Canon needs to do a lot of work on this application to make it mainstream as users complain about it being slow, and only working on CR3 (not on uncompressed CR2 files). The current rating of 1.6 out of 5 stars is pretty telling that the app needs work. Now, after a year, Canon has decided to make it a subscription as Canon Singapore now has a note; Digital Photo Professional Express app version 1.2.0 onwards would be available with a monthly subscription fee, from October 2019. Further details will be available soon. Now keep in mind that this is simply DPP Express for iPad, not the software that is bundled with your camera. That as far as we can tell, remains free of charge, with its continual updates.
