An object of the present invention is to provide a technique for suppressing an increase in the size of an image pickup apparatus due to the arrangement of a motor for driving a shutter. Given the size of the grip, I'm going to assume that Canon's intention is an RF camera for this patent application, especially when looking at how much the mount dominates the camera on the front camera view. Looking at the teardown's of the EOS RP, this is not an RP, as the shutter motor is located next to the battery compartment on the EOS RP, while in this patent application, Canon is tucking it under the shutter assembly (part number 405 on the diagrams). Canon has stated they are looking to add models above and below the current EOS RP and EOS R - could this be a sign of them attempting to make an even more compact EOS RF camera?
