Richard CanonNews / Wednesday, December 16, 2020 / Categories: Rumors, Canon Mirrorless Canon R7 in field testing A new rumor from Canon Rumors suggests that the EOS R7 is in field testing. Frankly, I don't even know why this camera would need field testing, considering the sensor is already done, and the camera body could be simply an R6 or an R5 with a 32MP APS-C sensor. That sensor has already been in Canon mirrorless cameras. Prior rumors have suggested that Canon will not create a line of lenses for APS-C, leading at least my thoughts that this is a one-off camera to essentially shelve the 7D series of camera bodies. If that's the case, then I would expect the ergonomics to match the R5, so the rumor suggesting it would look more like the R6 is a little surprising. This won't really be a multi-use camera unless you use EF-S lenses if the lens rumors are correct, so the EOS-M line still is the best bet for a small compact Canon system using APS-C sensors.
