Richard CanonNews / Thursday, February 3, 2022 / Categories: News, Canon General News Canon USA Raises Lens Prices Over the last week, Canon USA has started to raise lens prices. No one likes price increases - and probably not even Canon. It could very well be that the cost to manufacture the lenses is increasing because of the lack of supply. For instance, if Canon has to purchase widgets for the lenses, and usually they purchase a million at a time. But now because of supply chain issues they can only purchase 50,000 at a time for a much higher price, then that has a ripple effect through the entire company and subsidiaries. On top of all that the Yen is weakening to the USD and also to the Yaun, which means foreign procurement of materials could be also costing Canon more. Canon has to charge the subsidiaries and they in turn have to charge the consumer more for the lens. It's messy and the only people that get hurt by it are us the consumers. CanonRumors listed the price increases and as they suggested, if you still see the old price somewhere and are looking for one of the lenses, snap it up quickly.
