The coined word iNSPiC is a combination of Instant, Inspiration and Picture. The name is also used in Japan for Canon's line of mini photo printers. Canon Japan following the success of Canon USA's crowdfunding of the IVY REC in the United States, where all the preorders were sold in 3 days, launched a crowdfunding campaign on Makuake and all 1000 were sold in a single day. According to Canon spokesperson, "The exhibition on crowdfunding also serves as pre-marketing. When sold on an overseas crowdfunding site, 500 units were sold out in 3 days, but Japan gained momentum. There must be many people waiting for general sales."
