Richard CanonNews / Tuesday, April 16, 2019 / Categories: Canon Mirrorless New Rumor: Canon high resolution EOS R to have 75MP sensor A new rumor has surfaced that the EOS R high-resolution camera is coming out with a 75MP sensor. This makes it the second rumor to come out with this resolution for the high megapixel EOS R as Canon Rumors put out the rumor last December. We commented extensively on this in the past, and certainly feel that Canon may pull out the stops and release it with a resolution of somewhere around 60-75MP, as it's only a slight scale up from other Canon sensors in the past. The difficult part of a 75MP camera will be its performance, with a single DIGIC 8 based camera with around a 4 fps performance not to mention the challenges of 4K video with such a resolution. Many (including myself) would dare to suggest that such a high-resolution camera needs no video, and certainly not higher performance 4K, however, there's a segment of the ILC community that feel that every camera should aspire to have best video features possible. There are certainly large technical hurdles to Canon making such a camera. I personally would love to see this camera, it's my "dream camera" for the RF mount. Which of course leads to another problem for Canon as it would probably be the last camera I would purchase as well ;) Previous Article Tamron issues a compatibility notice for the EOS RP Next Article Updated Certifications list for Canon cameras - EOS M5 and M100 updates?
