Canon Patent Application: Curved Stacked Sensor Sensor Patent application

Canon has applied for another patent dealing with the ability to create a curved sensor by using a laminated or stacked sensor.  This is pretty much a pink unicorn of patent applications.

Generally they are concerned with impedance changing as you distort or curve the sensor, and this patent application goes about trying to resolve that and make the sensor impedance consistent throughout the curve.

The diagrams clearly show a stacked sensor with the light collecting pixels on one substrate and the processing on another substrate, and it curves too.  As with all patent applications the real world application may be slim, however it shows some of the things that Canon is researching.
