New Rumor: Canon to make a major lens push later in the year

We've seen the lens rumors that had the lenses due out this year earlier.  These lenses in case you missed it were the following;

  • Canon TS-R 14mm f/4L
  • Canon TS-R 24mm f/3.5L
  • Canon RF 10-24mm f/4L USM
  • Canon RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM
  • Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 IS STM Macro
  • Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L USM
  • Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM
  • Canon RF 135mm f/1.4L USM
  • Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-7.1 IS USM
  • Canon RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM
  • Canon RF 500mm f/4L IS USM
  • Canon RF 600mm f/4L IS USM
  • Canon RF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM
  • Canon RF 1200mm f/8L IS USM

There are also lenses that got pushed off the early 2021 list that wasn't shown on this list including the Canon RF 18-45mm lens that is most likely your low-cost UWA zoom lens.

A new rumor from CanonRumors suggests that in the second half of this year, Canon will announce more lenses than they ever have in the past at one time, with different delivery dates.  That stands to reason if that lens roadmap is still valid because they'd almost have to announce them all pretty quickly to get them all out in 2021.

We're not sure what the hold-up is with the lens announcement, to be honest. It's been speculated that it's because of supply chain issues and lingering issues due to COVID-19, however, both of those reasons would not hold back announcements, simply delivery dates.  Nikon has started to announce lens roadmaps with great fanfare, so it's puzzling why Canon still wants to keep things more or less a secret.
