Upcoming Canon 2020 Announcements

It's a poorly kept secret that we're entering into the announcement period for the Japan camera companies. 

According to CanonRumors, we will see little in the way of cameras this period with the exception of an EOS-M camera.  It's unknown if it's an M7 or an M50 Mark II - but given just how much of a success the little M50 has been worldwide, it certainly wouldn't surprise me to see an M50 Mark II roll out this fall.  I recall when the M50 was released, me and quite a few others, panned it, thinking it was significantly crippled for 4K and stripped-down M5 features.  Little did we know that it would turn out to be one of Canon's most successful cameras, and by far, Canon's most successful mirrorless camera.

The basic specifications of this EOS-M camera are rumored to be a bit mixed but seem to squarely take on quite a few flagship APS-C cameras from other vendors.  Everything looks good, except for the top end fps speed which seems a bit low as compared to the M6 Mark II.

I for one hope that Canon also releases a lens or two for the EF-M mount now, it's been a while now.

Also on the ticket, is potentially a slew of video-related equipment from Canon, one or several RF CINI Cameras and some camcorders (XC and XF).

As far as the RF Cinema camera, CanonRumors has released some early specifications of that camera;

• Super 35mm 4K DGO sensor (same as the Cinema EOS C300 Mark III)
• No IBIS
• RF Mount
• Internal ND (10 Stops)
• CLog 2 & CLog 3
• 4:2:2 10bit onto SD cards up to 4K120 and 2K180
• No RAW capability internally at launch
• BP-A batteries
• Price: $6299 USD

Also, curious and notable is the fact that it will not come with SDI or RAW capability.  This seems to be the Canon equivalent of the Z-Cam cameras since the source also mentioned that they would be significantly smaller than the C100/C200 class cameras.

Also don't forget the RF mount will have at least two more lenses coming out this fall, since we haven't seen the total for this year yet.  Most notably are the RF 50mm f/1.8 IS STM and RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM due out this year.

From Nokishita, several ILC's and a flash have entered Russian certification, so there's the possibility of even more products coming out this season.  Including several  R or EOS DSLR cameras or a combination of the two.  We have heard nothing about these cameras, which either means they are very low on the priority list or super-secret.

Given the fact that I would imagine that Canon is scrambling a bit with the EOS R5 and R6 cooling issues, I suspect they may hold off on any new R camera until that is resolved.
