Taken down to the sensor: Kolari Vision takes apart an EOS R

Kolari Vision our trusted source of infrared modified cameras and filters took apart an EOS R and showed us the internals of it, right down to the sensor.

I had a chuckle while reading Pat's writeup, I'm sure it will stir up some conversion in some parts;

Let’s start with the cold, objective facts. The Canon EOS R is the best-looking mirrorless camera made to date. Just look at the smooth yet rough finish from the EOS M series, the thoughtful hand-grip shape, the flowing continuous curves of its chassis, and the way the lens mounts to the body by joining exposed matte metal. This R looks like a sportscar. It’s gorgeous.

Perhaps just some overly dramatic flair ..

The EOS R at a glance;

  • 30.3MP Full-Frame CMOS Sensor
  • DIGIC 8 Image Processor
  • UHD 4K30 Video; C-Log & 10-Bit HDMI Out
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF, 5655 AF Points
  • 3.69m-Dot OLED Electronic Viewfinder
  • 3.15" 2.1m-Dot Swivel Touchscreen LCD
  • Expanded ISO 50-102400, 8 fps Shooting
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, SD UHS-II Card Slot
  • Multi-Function Bar, Dual Pixel RAW
