Canon Patent Application: Canon EF APS-C high magnification zoom lenses
In this patent application, Canon describes high magnification zoom lenses. The Canon EF-S 18-200mm is certainly long overdue for a replacement, however, with Canon's focus on Canon RF and somewhat EOS-M it's unknown if this would ever make it off the design floor.
Four major designs are shown here;
18-300mm
16-300mm
18-350mm
18-200mm
That being said, a 16-300mm lens would certainly be a welcomed upgrade to the 18-200mm.
