New Rumor: Canon RF 800 F5.6L and RF 1200mm F8L coming soon

A new rumor from Digicame-info suggests that the RF 800mm 5.6L and 1200mm F8L are coming soon.  These lenses have long been on the RF roadmap, so it would come as no great surprise if these lenses are released shortly.  Part of me wonders if these lenses were so close to being ready now, why didn't they make them released for the winter Olympics?

From Digicame-info;

There are rumors that Canon will announce the "RF 800mm F5.6 L IS USM" and "RF 1200mm F8 L IS USM" in the near future.

  • Canon "RF 800mm F5.6 L IS USM" and "RF 1200mm F8 L IS USM" added to overseas dealers

No other information is known, it could be that the 800 5.6L is simply "RF"ed from the previous EF version similar to the 400 and 600mm lenses that have preceded it.

The 1200mm F8L is curious since there's no mention of DO, it's going to be quite the large lens, even though the front objective is most likely around the same size as the 800mm F5.6L

It's also odd that digicame-info did not link the source of the rumor, usually, they are very good about identifying their source. Because of this, I would take this rumor with a slight grain of salt until we hear more.
