Canon Announces Price Increases on 12 Interchangeable Lens Cameras, 47 Lenses, and 4 Compact Cameras in Japan

Canon Marketing Japan is set to raise prices on several imaging products from May 21, 2026 (Thursday). This includes 12 interchangeable-lens camera bodies, 47 RF and EF lenses, and four compact fixed-lens cameras. Some accessories and binoculars have already had their prices adjusted on April 23, 2026.

As per the announcement, Canon claims to have made great internal efforts to cover the increasing costs as long as possible. However, continuing rises in material, manufacturing, and other costs have forced the company to make further price adjustments.

These adjustments are expected to hit more affordable and mid-range interchangeable-lens camera bodies and a wide variety of lenses. Popular entry-level and enthusiast models are expected to see increased prices, whereas some of the flagship models, such as the EOS R5 Mark II, are not affected at all in this round. The reported increases are likely to be in the range of several percent up to about 10%, depending on the specific model. Due to the prevalence of open pricing, the actual price increase may vary from one retailer to another.

This step follows recent trends in the electronics industry due to rising costs worldwide. Official Canon PDF documents with detailed lists of before and after prices have been published.

Consumers in Japan considering buying any of the affected cameras or lenses are advised to check the current prices and availability prior to the date of implementation. Further developments will clarify if any similar price adjustments will take place in other countries, including the US, Europe, and Asia.
