Canon EOS R5 to have development announcement soon

Seems someone jumped the gun and released an article a day early.  A forum reader from CanonRumors spotted this article.  The R5 details are slim, however, it will be the first consumer camera with 8K video.  It will also have IBIS installed.  It will also have dual card slots.

The image above is the actual EOS R5.

Also, other notables such as 20 fps electronic and 12 fps mechanical were accurate from the rumors.

It stands to reason that most of the other specifications leaked are also fairly accurate, but according to the article, Canon isn't providing all the details yet.

A few things on the images that we've noticed;

• The area around the LCD and control wheel is different.  there's no longer an illumination button that was present on the EOS R.
• The lens release is shaped differently
• There's an additional button on the front, probably default of DOF preview, but most likely could be re-programmed.
• The physical shape of the camera is different - more Canon EOS organic.
• Port to the front, I'm suspecting it's PC-sync. but we'll see.

All in all, there's no reason to believe that this is fake.

• 45mp full frame CMOS sensor
• IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation)
• 5 stops with IBIS alone
  • 7-8 stops of correction when used with in-lens stabilization
• 12fps mechanical, 20fps electronic

• Liveview/Movie toggle like previous EOS DSLRs
• Larger capacity battery, but looks like the LP-E6
• 8K@30fps RAW
• 4K@120fps
• 4K@60fps
• Built-in 5GHz WiFi
• New battery, but the same shape and compatibility as the EOS 5D Mark IV
