Canon Patent Application: Cooling a modular Canon CINI Camera As both the bitrate and the resolution of video cameras increase, cooling will remain one of the most important design considerations. So much engineering that Canon does for video is the technology that couldn't be implemented in a traditional stills camera that it's a little wonder Canon wants to keep video firmly in the hands of the Canon CINI group. Such as what this patent application shows, which is the fact that cooling is vastly underrated as a design consideration. In this patent application, Canon is looking at improving the efficiency of the cooling in a modular camera. With a modular camera, the desire is to make the camera as compact as possible, which leads to further heat management issues. The design (this time I'm sure) is a detachable lens mounted Canon CINI camera that appears to be EF mount since the sensor is quite a bit back from the lens (the image sensor is number 16 on the side view). As we can see from the images, that camera that Canon is considering is far more modular than the C500 Mark II and is almost similar to the ME20F-SH, however not as compact and has far more connectivity than the ME20F-SH.
