Canon Patent Application: Various EF lenses

We saw this patent application on another site, as we missed it entirely when looking through the Japan patent applications.  However, we should first clarify this patent application. These are most likely not for the Canon RF mount.  The back focus distances in this application are clearly too long for an RF designed lens.  A fast RF lens will have its last element larger, and much closer to the sensor than these indicate.

The Canon EF mount has a 44mm registration distance or focal plane distance, and these indicate somewhere around 35mm and up as far as back focus distance.  This is possible with the EF mount, by having the elements ingress into the mount.  What is probably not possible is to have that much ingress without hitting the mirror. What's more likely is that these are made for Canon's CINI lineup where ingress into the mount is altogether possible.

That all being said these are some nice designs, however, their application is unlikely.
