Canon RF Full frame kit zooms

Canon continues to research the low end of the Canon RF lens lineup, especially kit zooms.  In this patent, is some actually, pretty good full frame kit zooms, with the intriguing aspect that they would also be good if you used them on a APS-C camera.  However, please note, these certainly are full frame lenses.

Essentially these embodiments are for 17-70 or 18-65mm full frame lenses. This would be right in my wheelhouse for wants, it would certainly be a shut up and take my money event happening, at least for me.

Of course the only downside to these lenses is that they are variable apeture from 3.5-5.6, making them smaller, cheaper, but certainly not as good as Canon's legendary fixed apeture zooms.

The lens particulars;

half-field angle (degree) 51.19 31.71 17.48
Image height 21.64 21.64 21.64
total lens length 149.59 133.68 150.50

focal length 18.70    37.55    77.50

Does Canon need these lenses, I know the average enthusiasts will say no, but Canon needs to appeal to the entirety of their user base, and that's not just those that use specialized primes.
