Canon shows new concept cameras at CES 2020

Canon, like they did last year, showed off some new concept cameras that may make it into production this year or next.

A few of the concept cameras from last year that didn't come out last year were back, and this time were much closer to the final stages of development and are expected to be released soon.

The compact variable stills telephoto camera that can switch between 100mm, 200mm, 300mm and 400mm is much closer to a final product.  Basically a telephoto camera that you can bring with you anywhere.   It now includes an EVF, and is close to being released.

The intelligent capture camera that is designed to automatically track and take images without human interaction, has been more fully developed into an actual product.

One of the two concepts this year are two "wearable" cameras one with a dual lens model (lenses not shown here, just an empty blank on the front) and the other equipped with a 180 degree lens.

The other new concept camera is a "switchblade" styled camera capable of switching from extreme macro to telephoto by removing lens elements attached by magnets.

I personally think it's interesting to see other applications of camera technology than our traditional cameras, and Canon has demonstrated that they can bring these to the market rather successfully.

We expect to see and hear more about these when we're at CP+ in February.
