Fstoppers: Canon’s 4000D and the Race to the Bottom

Fstoppper's Wasim Ahmad posted an artlce on the 4000D and it was less than complementary.

Apparently the 4000D is the worst thing to happen and shows deep seated problems in the camear industry.

Okay.

We get that the 4000D isn't the most exciting camera ever released into the market. It's relatively crash proof for a small DSLR and most importantly affordable.

Many a high end phone which is talked about in this article cost more than some people can afford.  This camera, is affordable.  As is tossing a 50mm 1.8 onto it, or the 24mm EF-S.

Inspiration should be from what you are seeing, not the tool you are using.

He states;

Products like these show a fundamental misunderstanding of the camera market today. Instead of lowering the bar, why not raise it with higher quality hardware and software that can beat the smartphone and convince consumers that real cameras are worth it? It’s time to make an aspirational camera.
