Imaging Resource: Interview with Canon USA's President and COO

David from Imaging Resource sat down with Kevin Ogawa and discussed all things mirrorless and DSLR with the release of the EOS R.

It's an interesting article and Kevin from Canon was pretty candid.  It should put to bed any thoughts that a mirrorless camera is going to replace a DSLR in Canon's lineup.  As we have shown in the past, Canon continues to aggressively increase the number of product lines that it supports, and we foresee that continuing.  It's very demonstratable to how the EOS-M has invaded the sales space once reserved for the DSLR Rebel lineup, but neither the DSLR lineup nor the EOS M lineup replaces the other.

As stated by Kevin, from the article;

Our mission or responsibility is to provide an entire series of product, selecting the best technologies for each of them. So in that sense, OK, the digital SLR, we're going to continue to develop. Mirrorless R-series and the new RF-mount, we're going to continue to develop, even the M-series. Also the lenses, and so on and so forth. Our camera products, even the movie functionalities, that is the brand ambassador. So we continuously strengthen the brand. And now yesterday we launched the R-series, and that has leading edge technologies too.
