Latest Canon Rumors: A new 50mm? Preliminary specs of a Canon mirrorless?

Two rumors have been released lately.  One from Canon Rumors suggests that Canon is making an EF mount mirrorless camera, and also releasing it with a new 50mm prime.  The 50mm primes have been largely ignored by Canon and most of them need an update to modernize the focal length from current designs.  Even the newer 50mm STM is simply using the same element design with a different AF motor and housing.

Another rumor is suggesting some specifications for the upcoming mirrorless, however, it feels alot like a "me too wish list" right after Nikon released their cameras, instead of an actual real camera.  Note that this camera matches the new Nikon Z6 in almost every category and then beats it on price.  We haven't seen any credible patents for Canon and IBIS, I'm certainly not confident that Canon will release a mirrorless camera with IBIS at this time.  Consider that the EOS-M is non-IBIS.  So this specification list sounds a little suspicious to me.

  • 28MP full frame sensor
  • Dual Pixel Auto Focus
  • IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation)
  • 10fps shooting
  • 4k@30fps
  • 1080p@60fps
  • Priced $1,900

Whatever may be correct, if this is coming out for PhotoKina we should start hearing and seeing credible specifications and images shortly.
