Canon has a patent application Canon is one of the few that is looking at improving image stablization with macro lenses. Because macro lenses need to be stablized in different directions, including tilt, it's a entirely different set of circumstances to get a close to 1:1 macro to be stablized well. Canon's HIS is such a stablization, and in this patent it appears they are looking to make it better. US Patent Application 2018-0041705 Describes improvement of image shake correction including with better tilt correction. Interestingly, this applicatoin show a lens that is similar to a 50mm in it's design. A 50mm IS macro is most certainly missing from Canon's lens lineup.
