Patent Application: Canon RF 70-200 F2.8 and 70-200 F4.0
There's a reason I'm showing a Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8 patent application, and it's not because I'm crazy, it's because these are inner zoom lenses for both F2.8 and F4.0. It's quite possible that Canon may give us a choice between a fixed inner zoom or a more portable collapsible zoom. That quite honestly, would be very nice.
While these lens designs look like they could be EF, there is more ingress into the mount then I'd expect for the EF mount, and also the back two elements have that "RF rear element look". Also some of the embodiments are distinctly ingressed too far to be for the EF mount, so overall I think this patent application is for the RF mount.
Also the purpose of this patent is to provide small and light focusing group - something the RF mount certainly likes more.
