Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 RF Review ePhotoZine has completed its review of the Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 RF lens for the Canon RF mount. Samyang has always made great 14mm F2.8 lenses. The older model, for the Canon EF mount, has been one of those great bangs for the buck lenses, especially if you were just starting out doing landscape astro-nature scapes. The Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 RF is the first autofocus lens from a third party vendor for the RF mount, and is soon to herald the way to more lenses from both Samyang, and I'm sure Sigma, Tamron and others. Onto the review, ePhotoZine love the lens giving it a resounding 5 out of 5 stars and the editor's choice award. Pros; Excellent, even sharpness Very well made Weather resistance Great handling Very competitive price Accepts rear gelatine filters Widest lens for EOS R system Modest vignetting Well-controlled CA for 14mm lens Cons; Fiddly AF/MF switch Some barrel distortion (correctable) Basically looking at that list, there are no "cons". Verdict from ePhotoZine 14mm lenses for full frame cameras are not the easiest to handle from a compositional point of view, but once mastered they can certainly help to make very dramatic, powerful images. There are also certain practical subjects, such as architectural interiors, where an ultra-wide lens is essential just to get everything into the frame. The Samyang lens brings all of this to Canon's EOS R system and gets firmly into the marketplace ahead of anyone else. Not only that, but the price is great as well. Absolutely an Editor's Choice. It's only on preorder at the time of writing, but now is a good time to get that preorder in for the Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 RF. ePhotoZine Richard CanonNewsRichard CanonNews Richard has been using Canon cameras since the 1990s, with his first being the now legendary EOS-3.
