Canon Patent Application: Canon EOS-R m-Fn Bar Patent Applications

I first saw this patent application on the Japan patent website, and had to dig it out from the US one so I could actually tell what it was attempting to do.

In US Patent Application 20200007788, Canon is describing a more advanced method of swiping through your white balance settings by allowing you to select what white balance settings you want to show on the m-Fn bar swipe.

I could be wrong, because I don't have an EOS-R in front of me, but figure 7D is the new screen page where you can select which white balance settings and allocate them to the m-fn bar. this allows you to very quickly rotate through your white balance settings. This I think would be handy because I usually run through 2 or three settings all the time.

Meanwhile, on US Patent Application 20200007787, 2020000775 and 20200007753 are the patent applications surrounding the "safety lock" feature in the m-Fn bar and Canon's reasoning behind it.  It's part of the m-Fn that did make it into the final product.  In the patent, it is described as the erroneous operation prevention function.  Safety lock sounds much .. cleaner.
