Canon Patent Application: Canon RF 15-35 2.8,17-70 3.5-5.6 It was a matter of time before this patent application was discovered. Here we have the upcoming 15-35mm 2.8 patent application and with a bonus surprise what appears to be a non-L 17-70mm included. As we can see from the diagram, the 15-35mm certainly not a simple lens, however, the 17-70 is certainly a more consumer capable with a far simpler optical design (see below) While we know the 15-35 is coming out sometime this year, it will be interesting if the 17-70mm comes out in the future as well. it's an interesting focal range, and I personally would get it in a heartbeat.
