New Rumor: Canon EOS R6

It appears as if Canon is going to put a 5 and 6 series camera bodies out for the EOS RF mount to mimic what they have on the EF mount. It really does speak to the fact hat the EOS R and RP were possibly simply stopgaps until Canon got everything moving in the same direction for mirrorless.

From CanonRumors we have the initial specifications for the Canon EOS R6 - which would tend to look like the 6D style camera body in terms of functionality especially when compared against the pretty spectacular EOS R5 specifications.

Even so, for Canon, this appears to be a competitive body against the A7 and the Z5 series cameras.

One curious note is that both the R5 and R6 are coming out in June and July according to rumor, which essentially misses the top show, Photokina with at least one of the cameras, and leaves no EOS R coming out for CP+.

Update, well, that changed, it's hard to keep track of all the little changes that are being done here.  The EOS R5 is now scheduled for announcement on February 13th, which is before CP+

From CanonRumors;

  • 20mp full-frame CMOS sensor
  • IBIS
  • 12fps mechanical and 20fps electronic.
  • 4K @ 60p
  • New battery (Not sure if it’s the same as the EOS R5)
  • June 2020 launch (We think a May announcement)

Time will tell but the EOS R system is getting quite the boost this year in terms of camera bodies.
