New Rumor: Canon to release more afforable RF cameras after the R3 Canon has long since stated that there would be cameras above and below the RP and R when they came out. While they have certainly focused on the "above" with the announcement of the R3, and the release of the R5 and R6, it seems that Canon will turn their attention on the below the RP now. CanonRumors is suggesting that a replacement for the RP is coming and that it will be priced aggressively and also an APS-C RF camera is coming. It's difficult to say where this APS-C camera will fall, it seems to be a 90D styled camera in terms of positioning and placement. While it will not be an APS-C R5, consider it more an APS-C R6, which is where the 90D fell alongside the 6D in terms of ergonomics and pricing. We still haven't heard of any word on APS-C lenses, and while an 18-45mm full frame lens can double as a kit lens for an APS-C camera, it's dead in the water when compared to other APS-C kits from other vendors; whom of which it has to compete against. I'm still not seeing any sort of positioning on this camera unless it's just a camera body Canon is tossing out there just to keep people quiet. A strategic release of a R90 to coin a camera name for this that would be competing in terms of price and quality against the A6000 series, and the Fuji cameras (not to mention the lackluster Nikon showing), or even Canon's own EOS-M lineup must include appropriate lenses. Of all the rumored cameras that Canon is supposedly releasing for the RF mount, the R9 or R90 remains one of the odder placed rumors.
