Updated Certifications list for Canon cameras - EOS M5 and M100 updates?

Nokishita released an updated certification body list for Canon cameras, and there is four PowerShot class of cameras.  Powershot class cameras are identifiable because the model name starts with PC, and not DS.

Powershot class of cameras can either include the G series cameras, or they can also be EOS-M cameras.

We have a recent rumor that the M5 Mark II may be coming out this year, and a powershot class camera using an LP-E17 has now been listed for certification.

The M5 update is certainly long overdue, and this camera may be exciting to see released, as there is a good chance it will have updated technology including the possibility of a new sensor.  It should definitely not be a lukewarm 4K update as Canon will most likely do on it's lower-end cameras.  One cautionary note is that it lists the camera has to have Bluetooth 4.1 while the lower end M100 replacement would have the faster and more reliable Bluetooth 4.2.  We are wondering if this is a mistake.

Update: Someone noted that both the PC2358 and PC2367 have the same image resolution of 24MP (6000x4000).

The M100 update will most likely be a "4K update" similar to that of the SL3.

The cameras are as follows;

  • PC2355
    • Digital camera
    • made in Japan
    • Equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1
  • PC2358  With the battery being the LP-E17 this is likely to be the successor one of the M5 or M6 cameras.
    • Digital camera
    • Equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1
    • Battery: LP-E17? (7.5 Wh)
  • PC2366 - The images show this as being the G7X Mark III
    • Digital camera
    • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 loading
    • Battery: NB-13L
    • See downloadable WM601 PDF for details on this camera
  • PC2367 WIth the battery being the LP-E12, this is most likely to be an M100 update.
    • Digital camera
    • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 loading
    • Battery: LP-E12 (7.2 V 875 mAh)
